KB_GI_001: The "Integrating Transportation and Land Use in Comprehensive Plans" handbook focuses on the transportation element of municipal and county comprehensive plans and how to improve linkages between transportation needs and land use planning. It explores policy linkages between the MPC, Long-Range Transportation Planning, and federal transportation planning regulations; creating a plan (public involvement, data collection) and land use planning implementation tools (ordinances governing zoning, subdivision and land development, impact fees, access management, official map, transit-oriented development, transit revitalization investment districts, and conservation easements. Also describes Transportation System Management implementation tools (access management, HOP, traffic calming, Travel Demand Management, Congestion Management) and funding alternatives.  The Appendix includes a variety of Best Practices for addressing transportation in comprehensive planning.
